If You Have Problems With Aspartame, Look Out For AminoSweet
If you've experienced headaches, nausea, joint pain or other symptoms that you've associated with consuming aspartame, beware. Apparently, the company that manufacturers aspartame, is trying to do an end-run around growing concerns about the use of artificial sweeteners.
Ajinomoto, maker of aspartame, is now hawking their product as "natural" and has rebranded it as "AminoSweet". You can read more here ==> Aspartame has been renamed and is now being marketed as a natural sweetener

I wouldn't touch any of that stuff with a stick! There is one no-calorie sweetener that I think is all right, and it IS natural. That is stevia. It comes in powder or liquid form. I seldom use it, because I have learned to like my coffee and tea unsweetened. But every once in a while I feel like a little sweetness and add a bit of stevia to my cup. It's pretty good, but not as good as sugar, of course.
I've been using stevia, too, Zelda. Those who are willing to bump up to 5 calories :-), might want to try Sun Crystals. It's "a blend of naturally sweet stevia & pure cane sugar." I prefer the taste to the others.
As far as staying away from aspartame, that can be harder than it seems unless you eat only whole, natural foods. Aspartame is found in all kinds of processed foods (including items that already contain sugar, I'm told). Worse yet, manufacturers sometimes don't list it as aspartame on the label so you can't always be sure that it's not in something.
Another thing to watch out for is vitamin supplements. It took me a long time to realize the burning muscle pain and almost-immobile upper back was coming from the particular brand of vitamins I was taking! I don't know what was in them, not aspartame :) but I find I do have to try different brands in any kind of supplement and BOLO for adverse side effects like that.
I am pleased to see that you take issue with these pathetic dummies who feel compelled to add in a pinch of Ajinomoto or MSG or
Aspartame-metabolized-as-methanol, then becomes formaldehyde!
Would you please be willing to write a letter to FDA commissioner, Dr. Margaret Hamburg, MD, backed up by one to your United States Senators, to ask them to take away or rescind their approval for aspartame containing products, thus taking it off the market permanently?
Re: Ajinomoto; Everything they make is a neurotoxic or carcinogenic poison, like Aspartame and MSG. This is one of the biggest corporate killers on the planet! Please read this article:

Here is another excellent one explaining how it got approval:

Any chance you could ask your two US senators and Congressman to ask the
FDA to take it off the market by rescinding its FDA approval? You might find them very receptive.
